Highlands Ranch is a 22,000-acre master-planned community founded in 1981. Currently, the community has a population of just over 105,000 people.  Located only 12 miles south of Denver in northern Douglas County, Highlands Ranch enjoys easy access to the entire metro-Denver area and offers a wonderful quality of life and opportunities for an active lifestyle.  The community is rich in history, wildlife, and recreation. And, in fact, the land upon which the community is being developed, was part of the Louisiana Purchase, and has been a working ranch for over 100 years.

With an impressive network of outdoor recreation amenities including four state-of-the-art recreation centers, numerous parks and community gardens, golf courses, over 70 miles of hiking and biking trails and thousands of acres of open space, Highlands Ranch is home to active people who use their amenities throughout the year.  Additionally, approximately 8,200 acres at the southern edge of Highlands Ranch has been designated as the Backcountry Wilderness Area, which is dedicated to the preservation of open space, wildlife habitat enhancement, outdoor recreation, and other permitted uses.  And of course, Highlands Ranch is part of the highly acclaimed Douglas County School District.

Our community has received national recognition for its great quality of life and amenities and has been named by NerdWallet as one of the best places to raise families in Coloradorecognized nationally by Forbes as one of the top places to move in the nationBusiness Week also named Highlands Ranch one of the best places to raise kids. Not only is Highlands Ranch receiving accolades, so is Douglas County. In August 2014, Douglas County ranked second in Movoto Real Estate’s 10 Best Counties in America list.
